Spatial epidemiology of COVID-19 infection through the first outbreak in the city of Mashhad, Iran

The COVID-19 epidemic is currently the most important public health challenge worldwide. current study aimed to survey spatial epidemiology of outbreak in Mashhad, Iran, across first outbreak. data was including hospitalized lab-confirmed cases from Feb 4 until Apr 13, 2020. For comparison between groups, classical statistics analyses were used. A logistic regression model built detect factors affecting mortality. After calculating empirical Bayesian rate (EBR), Local Moran’s I statistic applied quantify autocorrelation disease. total cumulative incidence and case fatality rates respectively 4.6 per 10,000 (95% CI: 4.3–4.8) 23.1% 23.2–25.4). Of 1535 cases, 62% males more likely die than females (adjusted Odds Ratio (aOR): 1.58, 95% 1.23–2.04). odds death for patients over 60 years three times (aOR: 3.66, 2.79–4.81). Although distribution nearly random downtown area had significant high-high clusters throughout biweekly periods. influencing development hotspots around include congested population (due holy shrine), low socioeconomic deprived neighborhoods, poor access facilities, indoor crowding, further use transportation. Constantly raising awareness, emphasizing social distancing, increasing whole community immunization, particularly high-priority areas detected by analysis, can lead people a brighter picture their lives.
